Dominant performance puts Hibs back on track

Hibernians kept up their chase for the league title with a commanding 6-0 win over Kirkop U. to go top of the table before rivals Birkirkara play tonight.

After being held to a goalless draw by Mgarr U. in the last game, Hibernians were determined to put that disappointment behind them.

Ylenia Carabott, making her first start since recovering from injury, opened the scoring with a penalty early in the first half.

Seeking more goals, Hibernians were rewarded as Francesca Chircop found the net twice before the break. She would grab another in the second half to complete her hat-trick.

Kirkop were desperately trying to halt the goal-rush and tried in vain to slow the tempo of the game.

Their efforts failed as Hibernians made it 5-0 after the break when captain Dorianne Theuma converted a penalty.

There was time for one final flurry as Jade Flask’s stunning strike in the dying minutes sealed a 6-0 win.
